Not-So Classic Fairy Tales

Not-So Classic Fairy Tales

Fairy Tale Books

Nothing excites young readers more than picture books full of fairy tales. Children everywhere fall asleep to bedtime stories about the big bad wolf, magic beans, and Sleeping Beauty. Any young kid can describe the Cinderella story with its fairy godmother and glass slippers like they’ve lived it themselves. For many reasons such as that one, the sheer power of fairy tale books in a child’s life is not lost on authors. Hundreds of books exist that retell the classic stories with their original story line completely untouched.

Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with introducing young children to the original stories of classic tales, but why not shake it up a tad? What if, for example, Goldilocks stole from more people than just the three bears? What if, instead of being portrayed as the hero, she was shown as nothing more than an unsupervised little girl causing mischief? And what if the people she’s robbed have finally had enough? The following is a book that completely flips the traditional Goldilocks story on its head.

Goldilocks: The Name-Fame-Dame

Goldilocks is the talk of the town. She skips around, basking in her fame and letting her bold-gold hair fly free. For her entire life, she’s heard people talk about her hair, and why shouldn’t they? It was long, strong, bold, gold, and beautiful. All the talk filled her with pride and confidence, so she did whatever she wanted. What did she want to do? Why, steal things, of course!

The troll family’s neighbors are all aflutter when Goldilocks decides to take a brief trip inside their cave. She samples their food, she rocks in their rocking chairs, and she naps in their beds. You can imagine how the troll family felt when they got home later that day. But what could they do to stop this golden-headed thief from robbing anyone else?

A Fractured Fairy Tale - Fun!

This enjoyable book takes a classic story and gives it a new spin. The colorful illustrations and fun rhymes help to convey an important moral lesson that was previously hidden in the original tale. New readers are going to love this new take on one of their favorite fairy tales.
